Our History

Behmerwald Nursery was founded in 1989. The initial focus
of the business was on growing and selling perennial flowers to
garden centers in the Philadelphia area. Since 1989 our
surrounding area has become much more suburban and our focus
has shifted to the retail market. We specialize in growing over 250
varieties of perennials and our inventory of perennials typically
includes more than 20,000 plants. While we continue to provide our
plants to local garden centers and landscapers, we also make them
available directly to you, our customers.
    

Since proper landscaping involves more than pretty flowers, we
include trees and shrubs in our inventory. We grow some of these
items ourselves while the rest come from other local growers. What
sets us apart is that all our plants are locally grown, while the large
garden centers and chain stores bring in plants from other parts of
the country. Its seems obvious to us that a plant grown in our area
stands a better chance of surviving than a plant brought in from
sunny Florida.

With the rapid growth of our area we expanded into the local
landscaping market. Our landscaping department can service all
your needs from initial design to installation.

Whether you choose to do it yourself or have it done for you,
Behmerwald can provide accessory products such as mulch,
topsoil and soil amendments to accommodate all your landscaping
needs.

Behmerwald Nursery is now venturing into online sales.

We obviously cannot sell landscaping on the internet, but hopefully
we can provide some information on our services and answer some
preliminary questions. We can sell our perennials because they are
grown in containers and can be shipped easily. Check out our
