Rue Anemone produces pollen only so you will see bee and fly visitors mostly. Bees usually take the pollen to feed their larvae, so having a nice early source of pollen is a big help to our native species of bees.
This species naturally grows in woodlands with deciduous trees. It is more like a spring ephemeral typically completing its lifecycle in the spring and going dormant in the summer. This is a slow spreading plant that likes a good layer of organic matter (like fallen leaves) with drier, well draining soils. The foliage is said to be toxic to mammals so it is usually avoided by deer. (Click for other deer resistant suggestions)
