A native medium sized shrub or small tree that produces pure white clusters of bell shaped flowers. Gets the name two winged from the shape of its fruit. Dark green foliage in the summer with yellow foliage in the fall. Its native habitat is stream banks and wet woody areas so it can tolerate some occasionally flooding and wet. Flowers are produced in April and usually stick around till May. Prefers full sun to part shade.This was the Pennsylvania Horticultural Societys Gold Metal Plant Award winner in 1995.
