Native to swampy wet areas and stream banks, Monkey flower makes a nice addition to rain gardens, pond edges, and wet meadows. A lesser known native that is known for its tubular light purple flowers that resemble a monkey smiling. Flowers from midsummer into early fall typically in pairs and are pollinated by bumblebees. Best grown in part shade if the area is drier but grows well in full sun with adequate moisture.
