This a leafy perennial grown for its edible stems that are used most commonly in pies. Grows 2-3 feet tall with large leaves and red stems. Actually quite ornamental in the garden. 'Canada Red' provides tender sweet stems that don't produce many seeds stalks. When cooked the red color doesn't fade. Prefer rich well drained soils in full sun.
