Azaleas are a staple in shady gardens across the northeast. Bearing a hugh flush or spring flowers then maintaining as a nice background plant with its evergreen foliage.
Best in part shade conditions like morning sun/afternoon shade or dappled sun. Prefers moist rich acidic but well draining soils. Excess moisture can cause root rot. Azaleas are also quite sensitive to Juglone growth inhibitor from Black Walnut Trees. You may also place them away from Hickory trees as they contain Juglone as well, just not as much as Black Walnuts.
