'Powder Blue Giant' produces larger flower than the species that tend to be a paler blue. Blooms early in the season for nice early color and makes for a good ground cover as even after the bloom the foliage is a nice bright green.

Preferring moist part shade woodland setting but its quite adaptable to other conditions. The more sun the more moisture it will typically need. It has done well in drier shade areas which can be hard to plant. Iris cristata tends to like richer soils but sometimes if the soil is too rich you may get a lot of foliar growth but no flowers.
