Late spring brings violet blooms that get more interesting the closer you look. Nice upright spikes of flowers protrude from this compact plant. Hummingbirds and butterflies enjoy the flowers adding to the plants appeal. You can get a second bloom if spent flowers are cut back after spring bloom. Gets its name from the tiny hairs on the "bottom lip" or bottom petal. Prefers full sun and moist well drained soils. It can tolerate heat and drought once established. Grows to about 12-18 inches tall and wide.
