Very popular and common native Oak tree in our area and for a good reason- IT DOES WELL
It is a large shade tree reaching up to 70 feet tall. The branches of mature trees grow up at the top, out at the middle and down at the bottom. This growth habit gives the tree a nice shape but should be considered when planting. The lower branches growing downward can be an issue if you want to walk, mow, or do anything underneath unless you prune. THe advantage of the branches growing down is that the tree makes a better screen than a tree with upright branching that becomes very open underneath.
