This hybrid of the native dicentra eximia has cherry red flowers that arrive in the spring. The common names comes from the way the flowers are shaped. The blooms are heart shaped with the point at the bottom of the heart looking like it has a drop hanging from it. These blooms hang in rows off the stalk in which they arise from. Nice finely cut grey green foliage stay attractive all summer.
Dicentra prefers a good amount of shade especially in hot summers and typically likes a good amount of soil moisture. 'Luxuriant' will rebloom especially so if it is placed in the right conditions (too much sun/heat and dryness may hinder bloom) thought to be a hybrid between Dicentra eximia (eastern US species) and Dicentra formosa (western US species)
