Perennial Plant of the Year 1999. A tried and true cultivar that has been around since 1937. Large yellow flowers held above the foliage on strong stems. Flowers can be 3-4 inches across. Pollinators will be attracted to the blooms and birds will enjoy the seeds formed in fall. Goldfinches in particular like to browse the seeds. This cultivar has a long bloom time from mid summer to mid fall. Best grown in soils with consistent moisture but has good drought tolerance once established.
