This is a great native plant for wildlife! Adorable lemon-scented white flowers appear in large flat-topped clusters in June. Then black elderberry fruits appear in late summer. If birds don't eat them first, the fruits can be used to make jams, jellies, pie filings and elderberry wine. It is also used to support the immune system and treat colds.
