Once the flower has been pollinated berries are produced and will ripen in late summer/fall. 'Pilgrim' offers larger berries than the species with consistently large crops.
The flowers are pollinated primarily by bee species and it supports several specialized bees including Andrena bradleyi. Berries will be eaten by many different birds and mammals.
Prefers moister soils soils in sunny areas. Will spread to form a nice mat of foliage. This is a self pollinating species.
