This large native maple often gets a bad reputation since it can drop some branches and the roots often rise to the surface but it still is worth considering. It is very tolerant of wet conditions and can handle poor soil. We have a beautiful specimen just as you enter the nursery property and I would not even consider removing it just because it drops a few branches in bad storms. Its a large stately tree that has cool flaky bark as it matures. Another bonus is it is a larval host plant for the Imperial Moth!
