This is a hybrid created by crossing silver maple with red maple. The Autumn Blaze has the best features of both parents. The strong structure and color of the red maple and the adaptability and rapid growth of the silver maple. This is a very popular shade tree, known for its spectacular fall color.

Flowers very early, providing pollinators with an early nectar source. Acer species support the Imperial Moth.

Quite an adaptable tree tolerating dry and wet soils which makes it an easy choice for many different spots in the landscape. Deer won't tend to bother this tree once it's large enough, but it is best to protect it while young as the deer will munch on the twigs.
