An outstanding fall beauty! This compact form of Splibeard Bluestem is a great fit for dry sunny areas in the garden. Summer foliage is blue-green while fall brings red hues. You will also see the fluffy seed heads in the fall contrast with the red blades beautifully. 

Splitbeard Bluestem hosts the common wood nymph. The seeds will be enjoyed by birds.

This species likes lots of sun and poor soils, making it perfect for hard to plant areas. It looks beautiful in mass plantings and would make a great addition to a meadow.
