Epimedium × rubrum, commonly called red barrenwort, is a cross between E. alpinum and E. grandiflorum. This plant has red and yellow flowers (red sepals and pale yellow petals), which bloom in the spring, as well as medium-green, heart-shaped foliage that turns reddish when it emerges in the spring and again in the fall. This plant is most commonly used as a groundcover or edger in woodland or shady areas. Tolerates drought once established.
