'Duke' is a high yielding blueberry with fruit that ripens in mid June. It produces large sized fruit that is delicious! Not only do you get fruit but this shrub also has attractive flowers, habit, and fall color. Flowers are white bell shaped that emerge in spring, usually in May. 'Duke' is self pollinating but you will typically get the largest and most fruit planted with another variety. 'Patriot' blooms at the same time and fruits around the same time as well or you could do a later ripening variety like 'Elliot' to extend the harvest season. Birds enjoy the blueberries as much as we do so it may be best to protect the fruits from the birds in order to get a good harvest. Fall color is also spectacular on blueberries with oranges, reds, and yellows. If you look closely in spring the buds are red and round and very fun to look at! Blueberries prefer full sun to part shade and consistent but well drained ground moisture.
