This is a tall native grass with foliage that emerges grey/blue, then changes to green in the summer, and finally produces a spectacular red-bronze fall color. Fall seed heads are quite ornamental and will be enjoyed by many bird species. 

This is a host plant for the Common Wood Nymph and several Skipper species.

Tolerates a wide variety of conditions including dry soils. Once established a strong root system is formed making this a great choice for erosion control areas.
