An outstanding cultivar with dark burgundy red bracts that emerge before the leaves flush out. After the flowers foliage emerges bright red, then transitions to burgundy, then finally matures to dark green. A great specimen tree for smaller landscapes! Typically grows to about 15-20 feet tall. In addition to the spring and summer interest, fall will bring beautiful shades of reds, oranges, and purples! The red fruits will also ripen for the songbirds to enjoy. Like most dogwoods it prefers morning sun and afternoon shade and moist well drained soil.
