It does produce the sweetgum balls that people either love or hate but the birds definitely enjoy them! A larval host for some Lepodoptera species including the Imperial Moth and Luna Moth!
Naturally found in moist lowland soils but is tolerant of a wide variety of soils. Grows up to 80 feet tall and 60 feet wide so give it room! As a fast growing tree this species has indeterminate growth which means this tree will be putting shoot growth on as long as conditions are favorable!
