This small to medium sized tree (20-40') is underused. The flowers are small but really cool if looked at. The leaves emerge reddish purple in the spring, fade to green and then shine in the fall with yellows, reds, and orange colors. Nice winter interest
Ironwood is a small to medium sized tree that prefers full sun and well drained soils. The flowers can be missed but if the time is taken they are quite interesting to look at with the crimson color that fades down to yellow. This tree will be a nice dark green throughout the summer and boasts great fall color with yellows, reds, and oranges. The winter interest of this tree is the bark. It will exfoliate to show patches of green, white, or tan truly making this tree have year round appeal.
