Tupelos are excellent trees for a variety of sites in the landscape. They can handle full sun to part shade, wet soil to dry soil, and tolerant of many urban stressors. 'Green Gable' is an excellent choice because of its excellent branching habit, red fall color, and glossy green summer foliage. It even won the PHS Gold Medal Plant award in 2023! It does produce flowers for the pollinators to enjoy around May-June. The flowers are super showy but the nectar makes excellent honey!

'Green Gable' is a mid sized shade tree making it great as a street tree or smaller yards that need some shade. Although not bothered when taller and more mature the deer will browse foliage that is in reach as well as rub the trunk in the fall.
