One of the most spectacular fall color on a maple! Stunning reds and oranges do the cultivar name justice. A large shade tree with a nice oval rounded crown.Getting to be around 40-50 feet tall and 25-30 feet wide 'October Glory' is a moderately fast growing tree. Small red flowers appear before the leaves in spring and give way to the 'helicopter' samaras typically associated with maples. Not only known for fall color but also retaining leaf color longer than many other cultivars. Many maples such as Silver Maple are known for having an aggressive root system, 'October Glory' is noticeably less aggressive making in better suited for landscapes. Grows well in full sun to part shade in moist to wet soils.
