An unforgettable sight in the garden when in bloom! Long racemes of tiny white flowers that can be up to 2 feet long rise above the foliage in late summer. A great native for shady moist areas. About 2-3 hours of morning sun in usually best for flower production. Spent blooms will produce attractive seed pods for winter interest. A host plant for some species of butterflies which will not only attract the butterflies but also birds! This perennial prefers part shade to full shade and needs consistent moisture in the soil. The fragrant flowers give way to one of the common names of bugbane, the fragrance apparently repels bugs but it also makes it highly deer resistant! This plant is typically slow to spread and establish.
