Pink flowers emerge before the leaves signaling spring is here! New leaves will then emerge purple then mature to any number of combinations of whites, greens, and pinks. Many times you'll see variegation in the leaves. Summer heat will then make the foliage settle into the classic dark green. A nice yellow fall color is produced. Redbuds are larval hosts for many types of butterflies and moths. Spring flowers attract pollinators while the seed pods attract birds. An overall upright habit with a spread typically larger than it is tall. Prefers average moist well drained soil in full sun to part shade. In warmer areas, they typically like some afternoon shade.
