A small redbud that produces big color! Spring brings loads of vibrant pink/purple flowers, then the new leaves emerge purple maturing to a bright red, and finally settling into a yellow/green color. A fun twist on this classic tree 'Flame Thrower' makes a great small statement tree or understory tree. A cross between 'Rising Sun' and 'Ruby Falls' you'll get a slight weeping effect but overall a more upright shape. A nice yellow fall color in produced. Redbuds are larval hosts for many different types of butterflies and moths. Spring flowers will attract pollinators while pod like seeds are enjoyed by birds. Grows to be 15 to 20 feet tall and 10-25 feet wide. Prefers full sun to part shade and moist well drained soil.
