This plant will bloom in March when most plants are still completely dormant.The flowers emerge before the leaves flush out.  Great yellow fall color. Often will hold some dried leaves until flowers appear in march making it effective for screening.

The black seeds ripen in fall and are enjoyed by the birds. The flowers are a nice early source of nectar for pollinators if we get a warm enough day in early spring.

Grows to 6-10' tall and wider in spread.
