Native, great spring flowers, and terrific fall color- what more could you ask for?
A great little native shrub that produces a heavy flush of white bristly looking flowers in the spring. The blooms emerge before the plant leaves out, a nice early sign of spring. The flowers have a light fragrance to them. The large dark green leaves make a nice accent to summer blooming perennials throughout the summer. Fall will bring a spectacular color display of red, orange, and yellow! One of the best fall colors on ut there.
Best flowering and color in more sun but can tolerate quite a bit of shade. It usually prefers some afternoon shade, especially in hot summer climates. Can handle a wide range of soil conditions including slow draining soils. A slow growing shrub that will spread by suckers.
